Groot is a tree-like alien humanoid from the Planet X. He was a former bounty hunter, alongside Rocket, and became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the movie, he is voiced by Vin Diesel.
He was later reborn into a new "Groot", when Rocket picks up a stick of Groot and puts it into a pot full of dirt. He is best friends with Rocket, the only one who actually understands him.
